Typescript carbon (ca. 179 pages) of selected entries from the journals of Farwell Knapp dating from 1921 Jan 13, to his wedding day, 1923 Jun 23, compiled and annotated by his wife Helen Bayne Knapp. The entries focus on Knapp's courtship of Helen Bayne, and also include discussions of his life philosophy; descriptions of social activities with friends and family members; conversations with his fellow Yale classmates and Skull and Bones members Donald Ogden Stewart (Stewie) and Howard Phelps Putnam (Put); and mention of his law practice with the law firm of Shipman and Goodwin. The journal is prefaced by an undated TL carbon from Helen Knapp to her daughters presenting the work as a Christmas gift to them. Accompanying the typescript are typed carbon copies of letters dated 1923 June 26, from H. Phelps Putnam to Helen Knapp, Farwell Knapp, and Mrs. Bayne concerning the Knapp's wedding; 1923 Jun 24, from Mrs. Alexander Lambert to Mrs. William H. Cowles, describing the Knapp's wedding; April 5, from Knapp to F. J. Manning regarding the "Manning-Putnam correspondence"; 1943 Feb 7, from H. Phelps Putnam to Elizabeth C. Blackburn containing a poem by Putnam regarding Knapp's suicide; 1947 Feb 11, from Phelps to Helen Knapp concerning her plan to prepare a typescript of her husband's diaries; and 1961 Aug 7, from Norman Holmes Pearson to Mrs. Knapp regarding the edited journal.
